Comedienne Hilda Sethosa, better known by her stage name Sista H, will be performing at the Rhoo Hlatshwayo Arts Centre in Daveyton tomorrow.
The performance titled ‘LIGHTS OFF’ marks nine years since Sista H broke into the local comedy industry.
Sethosa has gained prominence on social media, particularly Facebook, by uploading her funny vlog style videos online.
Arguably one of the funniest women in South Africa, Sista H prides herself on the fact that she delivers her jokes entirely in African languages. “They (the audience) can understand and relate easy and it is funniest when done in vernac”, she said.
The comedienne tells jokes in Zulu, Tsonga and Sotho. Her versatility earned her a South African Traditional Achievement (SATMA) Award nomination last year.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Sista H said there have been many occasions where people assumed that she could not possibly be funnier than any of her male counterparts. “It becomes a different story after my performance,” Sista H said.
The star is excited about her upcoming performance. “What people can expect from my show is laughter and fun. Sista H or Emelda (her alter ego) never disappoints,” she said.
The comedy special will start at 8 o’ clock and tickets are available for purchase at computicket for R150.
